SEER is a term used to measure the efficiency of air conditioners, indicating the amount of cooling provided by the unit in relation to the energy consumed. A higher SEER rating signifies that the air conditioner is more efficient. In a positive light, starting from January 1, 2023, there will be two SEER-related modifications. One of them is the rise in the minimum SEER rating requirement for HVAC equipment. Presently, newly purchased air conditioners must have a minimum SEER rating of 13 in northern states and 14 in southern states. However, from 2023, the minimum SEER rating will increase to 14 and 15, respectively, in northern and southern states.
